It's good that your attorney called. My guess is that T2 will have a chance to work a plan to try to get back the girls. It sounds like the allegations of prior abuse may have revolved around concerns that your three children were dead. Is that correct or were there more allegations? Unless there were substantiated allegations she has the right to try to reunify with the girls since this would technically be her first real involvement with DCF. DCF is required by law to pursue reunification, if at all possible. And I imagine they would be reluctant to place the girls with you since you're not local and T2 wouldn't be able to visit which would be part of the reunification plan. They would probably choose to keep them in foster care or find a paternal relative in-state. Unless T2 voluntarily relinquished, but I've been told that once kids are in care even voluntary TPR doesn't necessarily mean the children will go where the birthparents want.
The key is to make sure you're on record as being interested in adopting the girls if that ever becomes an option and that you're viewed as a kinship placement in that case, since you've adopted the girls' siblings. You want, or you want your attorney, to place calls now and then to check on the status of the case so the system can't "forget" about you if the goal is changed. The system is definitely mixed up and it does seem like the rights of children are overlooked. I hope your attorney is able to get some answers for you. I'm so glad she's advocating for the girls.
